The company’s principal engineer, Craig S. Caulkins, a
1973 Civil (structural) Engineering graduate from Vanderbilt
University, is a
Registered Professional Engineer in California, Florida, New York,
Massachusetts and numerous other States. He
was previously a co-owner and Chief
Engineer for Building Access
System, Denver, Colorado, a manufacturer of facade access equipment
used on
dozens of high-rises throughout the United States.
In 1987 he sold his financial interests in
Building Access Systems and joined Swing Stage, Inc. (the industry's
leading
manufacturer of window cleaning equipment) as their Western U.S.
General
Manager and Corporate Board Member. While
at Swing Stage, Mr. Caulkins managed an
engineering, sales,
installation, and service team that worked on window cleaning equipment
for
hundreds of commercial buildings throughout the United States and on
foreign
projects in Saudi Arabia and in Great Britain. Please
note that in 1991 Swing Stage Ltd. was
purchased by The Tractel
Group, Ltd.
Craig S. Caulkins has actively participated in
the
window cleaning equipment industry since 1982. In
1991 Cal-OSHA granted the C.S. Caulkins Co.
license number 6 for
“Scaffold Inspection and Testing”. In
1992 he authored and published "High-rise
Window Cleaning Equipment andTechniques", the only
book in North America covering the many
facets of window cleaning
equipment on tall buildings.
Mr. Caulkins
continues to stay on the leading edge of industry trends, techniques
and Code
requirements as he serves on two national committees for U.S. Standards
in the
industry: Vice-Chairman of the ANSI 1 14.1 committee for window
cleaning
techniques and its support equipment on new and existing buildings; and
a
member of the ASME A l20. 1 committee since 1984, a standard for
powered
window-cleaning equipment. Additionally,
he was a member of the California OSHA's 1992 Advisory Committee for
the
establishment of new window cleaning equipment standards in California and
currently serves in a similar role as
the State of Washington strives to update their Labor Code for
window cleaning activities.
Mr. Caulkins also offers professional services
for forensics
analysis and expert court testimony in cases
involving accidents, negligence, code compliance & other
matters regarding window washing equipment, use,
rigging or other related engineering problems.
